Bathing in the thermal springs at Las Geometricas near Pucon, Chile was one of the most extraordinary experiences I have ever had.
I visited “Termas Geometricas” with my friend Roberto while living in Santiago de Chile for five months in early 2010. The springs are tucked into a verdant valley near the side of a mountain. After paying our entrance fee and changing into our bathing suits, we walked along the red-painted, wooden walkways and marveled at a waterfall. After checking the temperature in about seven pools, we settled on a few that were just the right temperature (some were practically scalding!).
We were lucky to have the springs practically all to ourselves. It was quite relaxing soaking in the springs and hearing the sound of the waterfall in the distance. The steam rising from the springs, the bright painted walkways and verdant landscape created a very unique scene which I will never forget. Can’t wait to go back someday…

Good point. But it does make iivtntiue sense that a country that takes resources from the private economy to maintain poorly managed institutions will not be as successful a country which allows its institutions to be exposed to a “survival of the fittest” evolutionary-style economic system.
