Martinique – My First Vacation Overseas!

Beach Scene - Martinique, 1980

Martinique was a very memorable trip as it was my first voyage overseas.  I’ll never forget getting off the airplane and entering what seemed like a whole new world on that Spring day in 1980 – nearly 31 years ago!  I could not have been happier. I urged my father to choose this island as I was studying French in high school and wanted to practice it with the locals (which I did).

I took the above photo while basking in the sun on a beach near our hotel. Click here to see a few more photos of this breathtaking, French Island.
