Five Relaxing Days at the Standard Hotel – Miami Beach

Sunset at the Standard Hotel

Seeking a relaxing vacation in an outstanding, hip hotel with a full-service spa in Miami Beach?  I recommend the Standard Hotel and Spa.  It is located on an island in Biscayne Bay.  I think this is a big plus, as you don’t have to deal with the crowds of people and noise on the beach itself.  In addition, you are just a 15 minute walk away from the beach.  The hotel is popular with folks in their 20s , 30s and 40s.  I saw a fair number of musicians during our stay but that was because a music festival was on.

I spent five days at this gorgeous hotel in March 2008 with my friend, Niko.  The photos and spa looked really great and the reviews were very positive.  We also liked the fact that the Standard Hotel was a former, garden style motel.  When we arrived at the hotel, we immediately went for a swim in the large pool after checking out the views of Biscayne Bay.  Spectacular – especially during sunset!

While we spent a lot of time on the beach, etc. we did take advantage of the impressive spa at the hotel.  On at least three occasions, we visited the large, co-ed, Hammam located within the spa.  Very relaxing after walking along the beach and having a light lunch.  As for food and drink, we enjoyed the excellent breakfasts we had at this hotel. Every morning there was a nice variety of freshly squeezed juices, pastries, and breads. The folks at the bar make some interesting cocktails as well.

If you are looking for a really cool, low-key hotel in Miami Beach, this is the place to stay!
