Sunset in the Sahara Desert with Tina Turner and Eros Ramazotti

On the road to Zagora, Morocco, May 2001

We all have special, “Wow” moments while traveling.  Whenever I hear a song by Tina Turner, I immediately recall my drive through the Sahara Desert in Morocco with my friends, Jeffrey and Liang in 2001. I was admiring the play of the setting sun’s last rays on the mountains to the south of us when I heard the duet Cose Della Vita by Tina Turner and Eros Ramazotti on the radio. I immediately asked the driver to stop the car.  We all got out and admired the sun gradually disappear over the mountains while listening to the remainder of the song.  At the end of the song we all sat in awe by the roadside for a good 15 minutes or so.  I was greatly comforted by this experience and enjoyed the silence of the stark, empty desert at twilight.
